Peach Pit Carving

Peach pit carving. Did you guys know about this? I didn't. I first learnt about the fruit pit carving on the blog called Spike is Best of Paul Stilwell. I searched on Google and found out that the pit carving has been around for  centuries originally introduced in China. It is the traditional handicraft and popular art form of China which needs some fruit pits and lots of carving skills. The pits from of the juicy fruits like peach, apricot, olive or walnuts are used to carve with intricate and detail art.

Paul carved these two owls and tree on peach pits using xacto knife and sand paper! You can read more on the process on his blog.

Happy Friday all! I'm taking a small trip to New York City with my hubby to celebrate his birthday. We'll be staying with a friend who has an apartment in a high rise building which is only few blocks from Times Square! I'm looking forward to enjoying the view from the apartment, endless strolls around the city and visiting museums. Do you guys have any recommendations for thrift stores, used book shops, restaurant that serves belgian waffles and best (in your opinion) coffee shop?

Have a great weekend! See you back on Monday.
