DIY: 3D owl shadow box

I recently stumbled across Monique's lovely blog which is filled with many inspirational ideas and tutorials. Like all of us, she too loves owls and created this beautiful owl shadow box with styrofoam ball, some paint and punched paper circles. The sweet details of the mustache, the pupils in the eyes, the feet, the wings and the little heart add to the three dimensional effect. The warm color palette is perfect for fall decor. Happy crafting!

Owl Rocking Chair by Erica Wilson and Vladimir Kagan

I am embarrassed to confess that I had not heard of Erica Wilson's amazing needlework until recently when I started to search for the artist who embroidered this stunning owl rocking chair. Erica Wilson was the “First Lady of Stitchery” in 1970s also known as The Queen of Stitchery. She stitched the owl onto a rocking chair designed by a furniture designer and Erica's husband Vladimir Kagan. She named the owl “Belinda” which was sold in an auction for whopping $10,000!
