Winter Landscapes by Vanessa Bowman

I am so ready to bid Winter goodbye for now. I can't wait for the sunny days, sounds of birds and  flowers filling the gardens. What about you? But before we do that, let's take one last look at snowy white landscapes through the eyes of Vanessa Bowman

Vanessa Bowman graduated from Winchester School of Art with a first class honors degree in Printed Textile Design. Her work is inspired by the textures and patterns of the countryside around her home. "She paints features left by the working of the land, punctuated by seasonal land marks – such as skeletons of trees in winter or hedgerow flowers in summer. Detailed foregrounds of vibrantly coloured berries or hips, delicate snowdrops or cow parsley lead the eye into an intimate portrait of the Dorset landscape."

Sussex based fiber artist Jose Heroys creates life-like sculptures of birds and owls. She grew up watching the antics of birds in her garden and they still remain the biggest source of inspiration for her work. She makes every bird by hand which takes anywhere from days to make a small bird to a few weeks to make the largest owl. She starts by crocheting the main structural form and then adds fine details around eyes and face using needle-felting and embroidery.

"The finished bird is tactile, and conveys something of what it feels like to hold a real one in your hand. I love bringing these birds to life and I hope they make you smile."

Each bird comes with a uniquely numbered ring around their feet for easy identification. You can visit her website to see the birds available for purchase.

3D Murals and Sculptures by Alex Yanes

Alex Yanes is a visual artist born and working in Miami. He has been pursuing art full-time since 2006 but it was evident that this was his true calling when he was only a child. At the age of six, he won his first art contest and built his own tree house at the age of 10. His vibrant and colorful art is inspired by his Cuban roots, skateboard, tattoo, hip-hop, rock culture and Miami city during the 80’s and 90’s. The artist shares on his website: “These days my artistic inspiration derives from the vibrant fixtures of my environment, fatherhood, life’s circumstances, subcultures and the ability to create something out of nothing.”

His art has evolved over the years, besides painting on canvas he creates three dimensional sculptures out of wood and paints them with whimsical characters. The owl (bottom picture) is a massive 30 foot installation created by the artist for the Secret Garden at the Casa Wynwood.

He has worked with well established brands such as Adidas, Red Bull, Sony, The Learning Channel, Vans, Delta Airlines, Coca Cola, Rag & Bone, and more. His work is collected by art enthusiasts, and corporates including Fidelity Investments and Capital One.
