Kitschy Stuff from Little Odd Forest

Little Odd Forest is a brand based out of Singapore founded by designer Lynda Lye. Lynda earned her Bachelors in Fine Arts degree (BFA) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and started Little Odd Forest in 2004. It's a label that designs and produces a huge range of bags, pouches, face masks, wristlets inspired by charming forest, fairy tales and wanderlust. The kitschy animal inspired bags and quirky forest creatures are hoped to bring more smiles in the world.

The products have been featured in many international magazines such as Lucky, Bazaar and Seventeen. ZooModern: Adorable Animal Wooden Toys

A few days ago, I received an email from Glen Hay who is a designer and an illustrator from Northern New Jersey. He has worked in the toy industry for 12 years and has an experience as a toy designer for Toys R Us. He started his brand ZooModern when he wanted a fun and an interesting toy for his daughter which was also safe as well as environmentally friendly.

Inspired by Japanese Kokeshi dolls, he creates animal dolls mainly made from wood for ZooModern. The handmade dolls have large heads, simple features and clothes to give them life. These dolls will inspire kids with imaginative stories and explore their creativity.

ZooModern current collection has Lars Owl, Abe Fox, Evan Rabbit and Leo Bear. They are made  with sustainable rubber wood and meticulously sewn in wool with a metal snap for easy removal.

Delightful Groups of Characters in Lihie Jacob's Illustrations

Lihie Jacob is an illustrator from Berlin who studied Visual Communications at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem with specialization in Illustration. She makes paintings of animals and birds in bold colors, lovely patterns and beautiful textures.

From her website: "I work "oldschool", meaning that all of my illustrations are hand painted and digitalized by scanning."

She often depicts the charming characters - sleepy owls, acrobatic mice and singing birds - as a group. The viewer will discover more and more details on looking at these illustrations closely. The above shown illustrations are from the previous years' calendars. For her new work go to her website.
