Vicki Elder Paints on Vintage Postcards and Magazines

Vicki Elder is a bookstore owner and an illustrator from UK. She is the founder of the brand called "The Fox in the Forest" where she showcases her artwork. Instead of choosing canvas as a conventional surface to paint, she paints on vintage postcards & ephemera.

To make her art she uses any piece of paper including grocery receipts, envelopes, birthday cards, letters, and sometimes even magazines as old as from 1827. All kinds of feathered and furry friends including owls, parrots, sparrows, squirrels, mice, badgers, roosters etc. You can see more of her work from the past on her Instagram and find the one-of-a-kind pieces in her online store.

Stunning Watercolor Paintings by Stephanie Law

Stephanie Pui-Mun Law is a painter and an illustrator based in Oakland, California. After finishing her graduation in Computer Science, she worked for a software company for about three years. She used to look forward to get home so she could pick up a brush and paint, she enjoyed getting herself lost in the imaginative worlds over the job where she was staring into the computer screen.

Her work is a fusion of rich texture, watercolor, gold and silver leaf, and ink, using these materials she creates the most intricate layered pieces with resin before housing them is custom designed frames. I was equally fascinated by the frames as they work as the extension to the paintings, for example: the painted wings of a raven continue to be the part of the wooden frame.

She is inspired by the mythology, legend, and folklore, and her own experience as a dancer for over two decades influences her artwork too. "She uses that experience of how the human body moves and emotes to create a bridge into her artwork so that not only do the humans dance across the page, but the branches of her trees move with a sinuous grace, and the arrangement of inanimate elements has a choreographed rhythm and flow."

Her paintings have been featured by numerous game clients and publications including HarperCollins, LUNA Books, Tachyon Books, Alderac Entertainment, and Green Ronin. She has authored and illustrated Dreamscapes, Dreamscapes: Myth & Magic and Dreamscapes: Magical Menagerie. She has also illustrated the best-selling tarot deck - the Shadowscapes Tarot.

Autumn Skye Morrison grew up traveling and getting inspired by the majestic landscapes and rich nature of North America. Ever since she could hold a pencil, she has been expressing her fondness for the natural world through her paintings.

Autumn is a self-taught artist who has dedicated herself exploring the art and created her own unique style. Her artwork is a beautiful combination of "realism, iconic imagery, profound symbolism, and subtle geometries.' The paintings often feature animals, women figures and symbols painted in acrylics that seem to illuminate the canvas.

“Each Canvas Takes Me On A Journey, And As My Paintbrush Follows, Each Time I Am Led Back To My Centre. I Believe That The Role Of The Artist Is Especially Crucial At This Challenging And Exciting Time. While The World Is At The Precipice Of Momentous Change, Artworks Have The Potential To Be Maps, And These Maps Can Help Guide Humanity Forward Into New And Positive Ways Of Seeing And Being. Through Creativity We Have The Opportunity To Transmute Shadow And Pain Into Visions Of Healing And Wholeness."

She now lives in Canada, teaching and showing her work all over the globe. Her paintings have gained her a world wide recognition and attracted fine art collectors. You can find her originals, art prints, tapestries, cards, stickers and clothing in her online store - Autumn Skye Art.
