Denise Brown: Ceramic Vessels

Denise Brown is a ceramic artist who lives and works from a farm in rural Fenland Cambridgeshire. She uses stoneware clay and hand builds her pieces using slab-building, press-forming (moulds made by her) and coiling techniques. She decorates each vessel with images inspired by the nature and landscapes surrounding her. Owls, seagulls, lighthouses, harbors, boats and rabbits is a primary theme incised by hand using a potter's knife. Through her ceramics "She aims to evoke memories and a sense of nostalgia."

The artist uses a copper carbonate wash to create the outline on the designs. After glazing, she applies 22ct gold leaf or 12ct white gold leaf to finish her work. You can find stockists of her work here and take a closer look at her ceramics on her website
