Ceramic Owl Spoons and More

Seattle ceramist Tere Hurst creates one-of-a-kind animal ceramics that are hand-painted in watercolor and colored pencil style. Her online store is filled  with whimsical hand-sculpted ceramics such as owl and bear spoons, penguin sugar bowl, bunny dish and canister, bird bowl and fox teapot.

She shares on her Etsy profile: "for me pottery is a perfect medium to achieve wabi-sabi; 'an ancient aesthetic philosophy rooted in Zen Buddhism, a ritual of purity and simplicity in which masters prized bowls that were handmade and irregularly shaped, with uneven glaze, cracks, and a perverse beauty in their deliberate imperfection'. i'm a huge fan of 'imperfect' - yet well crafted - handmade ceramic items. to me the imperfections add character and make the item awesomely one of a kind."
