Karen Risby is a ceramic artist originally from London now works from her studio in rural Suffolk.. She gained a degree in Ceramics at Camberwell College of Art in 1994.
Inspired by nature, storytelling and Scandinavian design she creates contemporary ceramic sculpture, wall hangings and porcelain accessories often decorated with owls, birds and trees. Each ceramic piece is handmade and hand painted with simple illustrations using ceramic underglazes and oxides, a sgraffito technique is then used to scratch into the surface of the design to add pattern and detail.
Karen is a member of the Suffolk Craft Society, Anglian Potters and has stockists across the UK. If you would like to see her work in person then she will be participating at Mixed Summer Show, Cambridge Contemporary Art from 25th June - 29th August 2016.
