Do you know you can turn wood logs into art! These creative minds use huge piles of mundane wood logs to create artwork featuring owls, figures and other nature's elements. They seem to have a special skill in distinguishing wood based on it's color, texture shape and size which they use to their advantage in creating a piece. For example it's a work of a genius how the owl feathers are formed with different colored wood in the third picture from the top. So why not use the pile of logs sitting in your backyard to make your own masterpiece.

Marian Stachurski (1931-2014) a Polish graphic designer studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under Henryk Tomaszewski. He illustrated film posters in the 1950's through to the late 1970's, for both domestic and international films. His distinctive style was bold and colorful in nature. He used simple forms and abstract elements influenced by Polish folk art. I like the posters with owl and bird illustrations depicting the feather friends in varied styles formed using plain lines to free flowing shapes. 

His original Polish movie posters can be purchased from the website called Polish Poster and more can be viewed on Pinterest, thanks to the collectors of his work for sharing.

So Jeo LeBlond: Pysanky Easter Eggs

So Jeo LeBlond is a very talented self-taught egg artist based out of Scotsburn, NS, Canada who creates Pysanky or Ukrainian Easter Eggs. 

With the traditional Ukrainian Pysanky technique on real egg shells using beeswax and dyes she creates mind boggling designs. The last step of the step involves removing the applied wax with candle to finally reveal the stunning patterns. She uses varied kinds of shells from tiny finch eggs for making earrings to large ostrich eggs. 

Her work has been published in the Egg Artistry Guild of Australia Inc. as Featured Artist, Quarterly Magazine, the International Egg Art Guild Magazine, Weranda's April 2012 Edition and Medasset's (Mediterranean Association to Save the Sea Turtles) 2014 Easter Card. Her work can be found in private galleries and collections worldwide. She has an online store where you can find her work available for purchase.

The internet is overflowing with beautiful Mother's day cards which is just around the corner. I love sending personalized card to my mother especially because I know she loves to receive them in the mail.
