Judy Lumley's 3D Cards

Judy Lumley is a printmaker and an illustrator based in Hertfordshire, UK. "She particularly enjoys printing with lino, playing with color and challenging paper to do dramatic new things. She has combined all three passions to produce a range of unique three dimensional shaped greetings cards."

The cards are available in the following designs - owl, hare, fox, cockerel, swan, cat, deer, bull dog, spaniel, ram, goose, and blue jay. The card is mailed flat to the recipient who can simply slot the back together to make them stand up. Perfect to add a splash of color to your desk or a bookshelf. Laura Zindel's Woodland Collection

Laura Zindel is an artist who creates unique houseware combining her passion for ceramics and nature inspired illustrations. Her ceramics are hand screen-printed with original designs hand drawn by the artist herself which are then printed onto dishware and other ceramic objects. She and her husband started a studio in Brattleboro, Vermont in 1997 where they have been creating fine ceramic products with the help of local artisans. 

The above shown pieces are from her "Woodland" collection featuring black and white motifs of burrowing owls, hares and squirrels which can be mixed and matched with other collections to create a unique table setting. “That’s kind of a goal for us,” Zindel says. “You get to make your own story for your table.”

Woooo! by Gerry Turley

British illustrator Gerry Turley studied at Glasgow School of Art and at the Royal College of Art. He has worked in many areas of illustration for clients such as Pentagram, Egmont Press, Met Studio and Puffin Books. His first children’s picture book is called 'Woooo' published by David Fickling Books, Random House. It's a simple story that goes something like this, two baby owls wait to take their first flight with their father. The daddy owl shows them how to fly avoiding dangers of the outside world such as hungry looking predators. 

The tale of the owlets' first flight is told with short sentences and animal noises -  “screeeeeeeeech!”,  “gnash gnash”, nosssssssshh” etc. through out the book. The illustrations are simple and sweet, and are done in the color palette of blue, orange and yellow. This "noises book" will be a great fun to read with your little one.
