I recently discovered the amazing work of a Canadian artist Eddy Cobiness. He was an Ojibwa-Indian who worked in oil and acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, and colored pencil.

He started his career as an artist by illustrating realistic village scenes, then gradually his work evolved to more abstract forms, often depicting provincial wildlife. Cobiness was well-known for his stylized images of animals whose essence he could capture by only a few brush strokes. His flowing lines and sparse use of colors creates a harmonious visual effect. The dot like shapes are recurring in his animal paintings, sometimes appearing as eyes of an owl and other times appearing on the body of a bison.
