Create Your Own Animal Crossing Characters With Kits by Fawn & Floss

When the pandemic started we all turned to things that could bring us comfort during the hard times with very little or no human interaction. Some of us started to cook more and others found sanity getting lost for a few hours binge watching Netflix. I know of a lot of people who started to play a video game called Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I haven't tried my hand at it, maybe because I know I'll get hooked to it. My friends spend hours decorating their island and with the characters.

Quinn of Fawn & Floss has designed a series of characters from the game including Timmy and Tommy, Celeste, Isabelle, and other villagers. These characters are available as finished pieces while others comes as diy kit. You can find the entire collection of the characters in her online store.

Whimsical Halloween Figurines Made by Vintage by Crystal in Collaboration With Johanna Parker

This whimsical Halloween collection is one of my favorite so far because it's created by two of my all time favorite artists - Crystal Sloane of Vintage by Crystal and Johanna Parker. The graphics and faces are from Johanna Parker's collection and the hand-spun cotton figurines are made by Crystal in her signature style. This range offers both free standing figurines and ornaments that are ready to hang.

Every figurine is handmade inspired by techniques used by the cottage artisans who made holiday ornaments in Victorian era Germany. To construct these characters the artist used both new and vintage materials, and embellished them with found objects such as ribbons, antique glass beads, vintage paper, and glitter. These one-of-a-kind characters are finished with hand-painted details. You can find these limited edition Halloween collection here.

3 Dimensional Shadow Boxes by Cutting Edge Wood Creations

Tina and John is a husband and wife team of designers behind Cutting Edge Wood Creations. John has accumulated an experience of over 35 years in carpentry and construction field. Tina studied art and photography in university while she was dabbling in the arts on the side. They make three dimensional shadow boxes using layers of laser cut cherry wood that is hand stained and assembled into beautiful scenes. These shadow boxes come pre-wired ready to hang.

Their work is inspired by the nature featuring owls, dolphins, deer, and holidays. "Tina lived on the coastline of British Columbia for over 17 years, “with orca pods basically in my front yard,” she writes. The jumping whale scene, with its orca playfully leaping out of the blue ocean waters, is an image close to her heart. Cat and dog images stem from their personal animal rescue efforts. Wildlife scenes come from their woodland Oregon City home."

They have shown their products at several art festivals, exhibitions and galleries. If you want to see their work in person then they will be exhibiting at Tempe Festival of the Arts from December 4 through 6, 2020. You can find the details for this event and the upcoming events on their website
