Textile Dolls Inspired By Fairy Tales by Pantovola

Good morning friends, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I would like to start this week with the amazing work of Anouk de Groot a textile artist from Scotland. I first discovered her work a few years ago and loved it so much that I shared it here. Thanks to websites like Pinterest where I once again, after all this time, came across her textile dolls that are inspired by fairy tales and folk art. Owls are a recurring theme in her work along with the mystical creatures that are constructed using vintage fabric, embroidery and beads. Each doll is one-of-a-kind piece which is hand-painted by the artist with love and care. You take a trip to a magical world for a while by visiting her store - Pantovola.

Women Portraits Painted in Vibrant Watercolors and Patterns

Hi friends, thank you for your visits and the comments on the blog. I hope you found the last week's owl finds enjoyable. I shall wrap up for the weekend with these beautiful watercolor paintings by an artist from Istanbul Hülya Özdemir who is currently living in Bodrum.

"Colour harmony sensibility" is how the artist describes the style of her artwork. The portraits of women in elaborate dresses and hair are often surrounded with animals, birds, flowers and other natural elements. Her paintings are inspired by Frida Kahlo and Gustav Klimt. The lustrous colors and wonderful patterns is what makes Hülya Özdemir's paintings unique. "I'm a colour hunter. I use my imagination as a colour catching net and collect them for my new paintings" via.

Have a great weekend! I'll see you on Monday.

3D Felt Birds Art by Linda Brike

Linda Brike is a self-taught artist who has been exploring needle felting technique for more than 10 years. She creates realistic 3D bird portraits with amazing attention to detail and immense patience. For example: The parrot (on the top) is surrounded with uncountable teeny-tiny french knots as seeds. The artist likes to observe the behavior of her birds in their natural environment and learn about their eating habits. "I did quite a lot of interesting research on Lovebirds in the wild, their living and eating habits before choosing millet seeds ." To see more of her birds and the commission work she has done in the past go to her Instagram.
