Collection: Vintage Illustrations

I am just crazy about vintage illustrations. They are rare, quirky and totally charming. Last year, I collected a few vintage and retro vinyl covers from second-hand store and used books store and framed as inexpensive artwork. Are you a collector? What do you like to collect?

Country Owl: Peagreen

Peagreen is a Winchester based design studio with a team of talented people who are passionate to create bold designs for stationery, tees and limited edition prints. Their impressive portfolio includes clients like IKEA, Urban Outfitters, Topshop and Gap. They have recently released new prints in their store and I'd love to get my hands on this 'Country Owl' by Dan Walters.

Cadbury Chocolate Buttons: Packaging

If you have read all my posts then you'd know that I am a Cadbury's lover. Sadly, I have never seen or eaten these chocolate buttons, but they sure do sound delicious! These yummy buttons were first designed in 1960 featuring a monkey, cat, pig, panda, penguin and of course, an owl with chocolate button as their eyes. This product is a perfect marriage between brilliant packaging and sumptuous chocolate.

Leandro Castelao: Geometric Goodness

Leandro Castelao is a talented artist who depicts animals and insects into geometric illustrations. Amazing!! I love each and every piece my him and had to share a couple of my favorites with you, along with the owl.

Nice Work

I blogged about Nice Work's cards here some time back and recently discovered their newly released notebook featuring adorable owls in yellow. It can be bought with other three beautifully designed notebooks or separately. Now we now, it's always nice work when it's by Nice Work.

I feel exhilarated every time I find shoes with owls, mostly because it's a very rare occurrence. These sandals are by J.Reneé's newest range available in three metallic colors featuring a sparkly rhinestone-encrusted owl.

Cuddlet: Blackwork Embroidery

This darling embroidered piece is by Nina of Cuddlet (love the shop name) who believes "that beautiful things don't always require complicated/expensive materials and methods" and works with mostly recycled fabric. If you take a closer look, you'll see that it's not your standard cross-stitch embroidery. The piece is done in blackwork embroidery, you can read about it on Wikipedia.

Locket 2 You

Locket 2 You was founded in 2009 by Scott and Mirinda, and has been growing rapidly amongst jewelry lovers ever since. They work out of their home studio in Portland, Oregon, creating lockets with vintage feel and unique designs ranging from whimsical to western chic.

Julian Baker

I recently spotted Julian Baker's Woodland Creatures Package design featured in the CMYK magazine and was very impressed by the simplicity and bright colors use in her work. Julian explaining her packaging design: "I created this series of animal illustrations as a side project, now I have developed a brand for them called 'Woodland Creatures'. I illustrated a set of 5x7 postcards, then designed a logo and a package to carry the cards."
