Happy Holidays! + Jahna Vashti

Happy Holidays! I would like to wrap up for the year with these cheerful and playful illustrations by Jahna Vashti. Thank you so much for visiting my blog this past year and encouraging me with your comments. It truly means a lot to see you enjoying the owlsome work I hand-pick to share with you.

I wish you and your family a merry christmas if you celebrate and a very happy holiday season!

Before I let you go, let me introduce you to the wonderful work by Jahna Vashti. Jahna is an artist born in Vancouver Island Canada and grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. She is a self-taught artist who always loved to draw and color ever since she was a little girl.

"My imagination ruled my every move. The pipes that stretched from the walls that lined the alleys were never just pipes. The tree in the front yard wasn’t just a tree. My father’s favorite car was more than just a vehicle. They were all beings, with a character and a life. So I drew pictures - a lot of pictures."

In her artwork the quirky characters come to life - the owl, bear, raccoon, fox, rabbit, and squirrel - all have a distinct personality. The snow, the christmas tree, winter woodland, holly, all scream holidays.

Tin Dioramas Decorated with Paper Cut Scenes and Hand-Painted Birds

Geninne D Zlatkis's work is an inspiration for many of us. I have been following her on Instagram for a long time and love her daily posts that take you to the wilderness of a desert, fresh blooms of spring, rustic objects, magical landscapes, and of course her enchanting artwork.

She recently made these dioramas which are sold out but I could not help but share them with you. These tin decorations are also known as tin nicho which simply means three dimensional display box. Inside each box the artist has created a scene cut out of paper and decorated it with birds that are sculpted in polymer clay or hand-painted paper. These pieces come with a door to protect it from the dust and with a hoop to hang.

You can follow Geninne on Instagram where she posts updates on her new products.
