Artist Paints Realistic Animals and Detailed Portraits with Threads

Olga also known as TeplOlino is an artist from Pskov, Russia. These embroidered brooches, bracelets, and necklaces are called "boho ornaments" by the artist. These hand-made pieces often feature animal portraits and floral inspired designs. Olga's work is not limited to that, the artist recreates the masterpieces by painting them in threads, for example Gustav Klimt’s apple gardens, Modigliani’s women portraits and Frida Kahlo's portraits.

The artist captures the fur, feathers, and scales with stunning attention to detail that makes the embroidered pieces look almost real!

Edge Sculpture by Matt Buckley

Edge Sculpture is a collection designed and sculpted by Matt Buckley the Creative Director of Robert Harrop Designs. Matt honed his craft by following in the footsteps of his step father, Robert Harrop and has accumulated over 22 years of experience in sculpting.

The collection includes a range of animals including owls, a penguin, a giraffe, a hare, a puffin and other creatures from both real and imaginative world. Each piece begins with an in-depth research on the subject followed by a sketch. Once that done, Matt and his team mould the shape, cast it in a mix of marble resin, add details by hand painting and finishing touches. You can read in detail about the process here.

The finished sculpture consists of several fragments, a dramatic mix of form, light and texture. When I first saw the images of Matt's sculptures, I envisioned them to be life-size but in reality they are about 8 to 15 inches in height.

You can follow Matt on Facebook for new videos, upcoming events and new products.
