Amazing Wildlife Sculptures Entirely Handmade Using Mesh Wire

British artist Kendra Haste creates amazing life-size animal sculptures out of galvanized wire. In 1998, she graduated from the Royal College of Art and earned degree in BA (Hons) Illustration from Camberwell College of Art.

She has always been passionate about animals which provides her with rich and diverse material for her subject. Her sculptures are mainly of animals that are hand sculpted with the use of mesh wire. She likes to observe and study her subjects in the wild before drawing them on paper and brings them to life by giving them form using mesh. Every sculpture is entirely made by hand without any molds or mechanical processes which is very time consuming and needs immense patience.

"No other material I have ever used has been able to suggest the sense of movement and life, of contour and volume, the contrasts of weight and lightness, of solidity and transparency - values that I find in my natural subjects. It is the perfect medium, inviting continuing exploration and challenge."

For her unique style her work has a significant number of admirers who have her work in their private collections worldwide. Kendra is an elected member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors, the Society of Wildlife Artists, UK and a signature member of the Society of Animal Artists, USA.

Her sculptures including an elephant can be found at the Waterloo Station, London. Over a dozen of sculptures at the Tower of London and a rhinoceros at Cannon Hall Museum, Barnsley. Her work is a part of the collection of the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson, Wyoming. Kendra is currently being represented by Patrick Davies.
