Watercolor Paintings With Intricate Flora and Fauna

Michelle Morin is a surface designer and an illustrator who founded Home of Dodo (formerly known as United Thread) in 2008. Her watercolor paintings are hugely inspired by flora and fauna, a world she got introduced to when she worked as a private gardener on a huge property situated on the eastern tip of Cape Cod. This job gave her an opportunity to observe the plants as well as insects and birds around them. She started to sketch during her breaks which gradually evolved into intricate paintings with complex patterns and beautiful landscapes.

Michelle Morin has collaborated with many prominent brands including H&M, Red Cap Cards, Anthropologie, Chronicle Books, Nike, Yves Saint Laurent, Land of Nod, Bespoke Letterpress, and Vilshenko to name a few.

The above shown work is something I handpicked from her Instagram and her online store here.

Portraits and Bird Illustrations Bring Vintage Maps to Life

It's been few years since I featured Mark Powell's amazing work (previously featured here). His incredible portraits and illustrations are made using ballpoint pen on vintage envelopes. What he uses as canvas for his work has expanded to vintage maps. He works around the lines on the paper incorporating them in his portraits representing wrinkles in portraits of the old characters.

"Each face I choose to draw has to have character and a suggestion of a history to tell. That way the viewer can create any narrative of a life that may have been lived. The same applies to the postcards or documents etc, neither the face or document have a connection beyond the fact both have an aesthetic quality of a history."

You can find the originals and limited edition prints on his website.

Clever Doodles Created With Combining Everyday Objects and Drawings

Javier Perez is a graphic designer based in Ecuador who creates amusing illustrations. His clever doodles are made using found objects and drawings for his Instagram account Cinta Scotch. As a child he made characters inspired by his imagination from different kind of materials that were in his reach like plasticine, legos, wood, and cardboard boxes.

His style is very simple and minimal. " I want people to be able to take a break from the saturation of photos in general." The idea of the illustrations can come to him at the most random times from when he is on a bus to when he is on a morning run.

He has won many awards for his work and his work has been published in Huffington Post, ABC News, BuzzFeed, Adobe, and Behance to name a few.
