Functional Ceramics Ideal for Everyday Use by Gabrielle Schaffner

Gabrielle Schaffner was born and raised in New York, currently living in Boston. She lives in an artists’ cooperative that's a home to 43 other artists and their families. Her whimsical functional pottery is either made on potter's wheel or by hand in her studio. Her work is illustrated with designs that are inspired by nature, archaeology, and art history.

"My studio work is very much influenced by my love of cooking: I like a plate that looks good with food, a large cup to hold plenty of caffe latte, and a pitcher that doesn't drip. In the kitchen I am always reaching for little dishes, so I make a wide array of them in all shapes and sizes."

If you are in the area and want to see her work in person then visit her at 249 A Street Cooperative this May 11-12, from 12pm to 5pm. To get more details on this event and for upcoming shows visit her website
