Ordinary Objects Transformed into Illustrations by Ash Oat

Ash Oat is a designer and an illustrator who uses everyday objects like chopsticks, coffee cup sleeve, paper clips, headphones etc. to create clever imagery. The New York based artist incorporates the ordinary things for his ongoing series Things + Ink and transforms them into an owl, a ballet dancer, a pianist, a queen or an elephant. He uses software like Adobe Illustrator, the Adobe Draw app, and the Adobe Sketch app to draw.

These are some of his work that he conceptualized and drew quickly during his lunch hours. His work is simple yet clever. He shared a quote on his website by Paul Rand "Simplicity is not the goal. It is the by-product of a good idea and modest expectations."

Joyful Paper Creations by Clare Youngs

Clare Youngs is a UK based designer/maker who works with paper and fabric. Ever since she was a child she enjoyed making beautiful handcrafted objects. Later on in life she dedicated her time to craft full time.

I recently stumbled across her amazing paper creations on Instagram. She is a collector of vintage labels and paper which she uses in her pieces. Her work is inspired by nature and animals, full of colors that will bring you joy. The characters are designed to be propped up on a shelf or placed in a box frame. They are so light that you can decorate your walls with.

“I love the whole process, the excitement of a new project, the thoughts and ideas that start as notes and sketches and the satisfaction of seeing my ideas develop into a finished piece. I think everyone can be creative and through my work and ideas I hope I can encourage more and more to get making and release the artist within!”

Miniature Paper Illustrations and Models by Georgie Monica

Georgie Monica is an illustrator and paper artist from Devon, England who graduated from Falmouth University in Cornwall, England. She creates amazing miniature three dimensional illustrations using paper! She makes one-of-a-kind models that are hand-painted and sets them up into diorama.

It's really astonishing how much detail she is able to capture in her tiny pieces some that are 1.5" high and only 5.5" long. She shared the process behind her work involves "a lot of scraps of paper that I bend into shapes to try and simulate the object and I usually create a sort of “visual equation” which allows me to make the final items. Then it’s painting, building and photographing." via

Her narrative illustrations often feature animals and women which create curiousity into the viewer to enquire more into other lives through the windows created by the artist. It's obvious that her work is influenced by ancient mythology, contemporary film, books, poetry and pictures that result into multiple atmospheric 2d images. Visit her website to see more of her work and join her on Instagram. She has few of the pieces that are available for purchase in her online store.
