Wire Sculptures by Mel Day

Mel Day uses wire as a medium to create animal sculptures, human figures and to write poems. It all started in 1990s when she wanted her drawings to become three dimensional "a way of liberating the drawn line into free space". Wire is a addictive material for the artist with endless possibilities and to constantly learn new techniques. Her work is inspired by circus, myth, carnival, human relationships and birds. She has participated in solo as well as group exhibitions, and has worked on number of community projects. She can be contacted for commission work through her website.
