Lego artist Ekow Nimako was born in Montreal and studied Fine Arts at York University. He has been making Lego sculptures professionally for only the last 4 years but his work has become popular due to the subject matter in his work that range from extinction of birds to political statements and racism.

Commissioned by City of Toronto for Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, Silent Knight a seven and a half foot white barn owl was a homage to Ontario's endangered bird barn owl. To build the sculpture the artist used 50,000 white Lego bricks and installed it on a metal base. The finished sculpture weighed 225 kilograms and priced around $100,000. See him working on the piece in the following brief video.
