Realistic Crochet Bird Sculptures by Jose Heroys

Jose Heroys is a fiber artist from Sussex who makes life-like bird sculptures and fiber art using wool yarn, natural fibers and carded fleece. She gets the inspiration for her work from her love of birds, nature, and wildlife. Birds have been a great passion for Jose since she was a little girl and is now a primary subject matter in her art. In each sculpture the artist aims to capture character and a sense of aliveness. Each bird is made by crocheting and needle-felting, taking many hours of patience and dedication. For example, it takes anywhere from 1-2 weeks to create a burrowing owl like the one shown above. There are birds that are available for purchase on her online store.
