Hawaiian Coffee Sacks Repurposed Into Fashionable Bags

Tanya Mariano Kearns was born in Tacoma, Washington, raised in North Carolina and currently lives in Hawaii. She is the designer behind Manila Extract the brand that sells colorful coin purses, bags and totes.

The “Ambassador for Hawaii Coffee” creates bags with re-purposed coffee sacks purchased directly from Hawaii coffee farms. She believes Hawaiian coffee bags are the most beautiful in the world. She is drawn to the artistic qualities and likes the rustic character of the bags. Each bag is one of a kind, tells some sort of history of Hawaii coffee through it's vibrant graphics and artwork. For example: The coffee sack featuring a stunning screen print of the pueo or Hawaii owl sitting atop coffee cherry is Kauai Coffee's latest coffee bag. The pueo is considered to be sacred in Hawaii and legend names the pueo as " the protector". Visit her online store for bags that are available in several styles with beautiful designs.

Incredible Nail Art Inspired by Book Cover

Wink Poppy Midnight  by April Genevieve Tucholke

I recently discovered an Instagram account that goes by the name of The Bookish Manicurist. She is an avid Aussie YA books reader as well as a nail tech who paints faux nails to match the book covers that she reads. Her paintings are incredibly intricate and highly detailed that capture the gist of the illustration on the cover of the book.

New Work of Yvonne Herbst

Those of you who know the talented needle felting artist Yvonne Herbst would agree with me when I say she is one of the best in the needle felting field. I have featured her amazing felted creatures here in the past. These are some of her new creations that leave me speechless. One can see her great control over the technique and attention to detail in these life-like animals. You can stop by her facebook page to view her owls, birds and other animals.
