Sarah Esteje: Ball Pen Illustrations

Sarah Esteje is a French illustrator who studied art in Paris at LISAA ( L'institut supérieur des arts appliqués) and Gobelins School of the Image, Paris. She draws meticulous and amazingly detailed portraits of animals using only blue ball point pens and white paper for her work. I am still in awe by the intricacy with which she has drawn the feathers on the owl. Very, very impressive.

She shares (via): "For my animal portraits, I really chose pictures in which they looked human, and in some of my human portraits, I love how brutish they can look.

But in a general way it is difficult to touch somebody with the portrait of a stranger, it is easier with animals."

Ben Goodman

Ben Goodman is a printmaker from Bristol, UK where he was born and raised. After graduating with a first class honours degree in Illustration he became interested in traditional printmaking and wood-engraving. To produce his prints he uses a range of processes from wood engraving, etching, stone lithography to letterpress. I adore his bird series which seem to have been created with some use of paper and short strokes of paint brush bringing a delicate feel to his work.

He has exhibited at the AOI’s annual show at the London Transport Museum and Clarke Willmott’s Young Artist of the Year exhibition.  His clients include Palgrave Macmillan, The Bristol Old Vic Theatre, Farrows Creative, Rusty Squid, The Wardrobe Theatre and Zero Lubin Publishers.
