DIY: Plastic Bottle Owl Vases

Grab those bottles out of the recycle bin because I have found a great tutorial that you are going to love! With this tutorial you can turn any empty plastic bottle into these cute owls that can be used as a candle holder, as a planter, as a pencil holder, to hold utensils in the kitchen, toothbrushes in the bathroom or any thing else that you can think of. Fun, right?

I wish you all a lovely weekend. I'll see you back on Monday with many more owl-some posts. Till then, if you like, you can join me on Facebook.

Dolomite Bottle Vase

The first time I had set my eyes on these bottles was a few years ago, I don't remember where did I see them but I had admired them very much. Just a couple of days ago, while browsing through a website Linen Chest I accidentally came across the source of these bottles. The internet is a funny place - you have no idea what would you find next.

These are made by Dolomite and come in three sizes - small, medium and large. You can click on the size to go to the website where it's available to purchase.

Javiera Donoso Romo: Paper Mache Creations

My newly found interest in paper mache has lead me to this very talented artist Javiera Donoso Romo. She is from Santiago, Chile and creates these adorable animals with paper mache, paint and jars.

She begins by drawing on paper which helps her determine the form, shape and size of her pieces. To make them look as close to her drawn illustrations she uses jars, styrofoam which is then covered with layers of paper pulp. After waiting for her pieces to dry, she begins to paint them with watercolors and seals them with varnish. I like the use of vibrant colors and the sheer simplicity in her work. She has recently made paper mache masks which I love! Check them out here.
