Anna-Wili Highfield

Roos

Jaguar

Ravens

Long Eared Owl

Fox

Hummingbird

Wolf

I leave you for the weekend with these new (to me) sculptures by Australian paper sculpture artist Anna-Wili Highfield, photographed by Petrina Tinslay. Anna-Wili, whose work I first featured here, creates these sculptures using torn paper, ink, watercolor and thread. Her sculptures are often inspired by nature depicting animals and birds, and look pretty realistic considering she uses different paper as the medium for her work.

Have a good weekend my friends. I 'll see you on Monday!

Awake Caffeinated Chocolate

Awake Chocolate is a life saver in guise of a sweet treat for all of us caffeine addicts who are looking for a delicious pick me up on a go. On the weekend, I received a box of Awake caffeinated chocolate from a dear friend who is very much aware of my fondness for coffee and chocolate. The moment I opened the box I fell in love with the packaging design in bright blue, orange and yellow, featuring wide eyed owl on brown background.  But boy, was I in for a surprise. The moment I took the first bite into the chocolate I was in complete heaven! It's creamy, smooth and packs a bunch of caffeine, the same amount you would get from your cup of joe.

Awake Chocolate is available in two mouth-watering flavors - milk chocolate or caramel. Apart from bars, there are also pint-sized bites which are equivalent to half a cup of coffee which is perfect for afternoon or after dinner. You can order Awake Chocolate online from here.

Eerie and Delightful Creatures by Jessica Joslin

Mixed media artist Jessica Joslin creates these bizarre looking creatures from bones and found objects from junk shops – light fittings, chandelier parts, decorative sconces, radiators and gas lamps. The sculptures have a dark element to them because of the usage of bones but inspite of that these creatures look very much alive, some even look as if their picture has been taken while they play, happy as a lark despite their lack of flesh.

“I don’t think of what I’m doing as dark, necessarily,” she says. “Death is inherent in the work because of the bones, of course. But I see the work as part of the love for the living creature – and if they’re going to have a life after death, I want it to be fun.”

Jessica gave a great interview to Bizarre Magazine here which you must read if you have more questions like - where does she get the bones from?, how she puts all the odd pieces together and much more.
