Brian Wildsmith Teaching Cards From A to Z

I am a fan of Brian Wildsmith's illustrations and was thrilled to have found all the cards from Brian Wildsmith Teaching Cards From A to Z, printed by Franklin Watts in 1974. Each card features an animal, a human or an object in bright, fun colors with lots of details. I can just look at them all day long. My favorites are the owl, the Indian and the pirate. And yours?

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed compiling this post. I wish you all a great weekend. See you on Monday!

I love the above shown owl image. Isn't it perfect to be printed on a wooden tray? How would you use the image? More beautiful images can be found here and for owl themed images go here.

Piper Press

These sweet prints are by Susan Uccello an artist from Austin, Texas. Each print is based on the artist's original drawings that are carved into wood blocks, and then individually hand pressed using a cast iron book press. I just love the monochromatic simplicity in her work! You can visit her online store - Piper Press - to view more of her work.

Hannah Jensen: Carved Artwork

Auckland based contemporary artist Hannah Jensen is popular for her carved artwork. She graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2004 with a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in printmaking, and later decided to transfer her skills to painting. She developed a unique technique where she applies anywhere between 25-75 layers of paints to board, into which she slowly begins to carve, calculating the depth of each layer and finally revealing the work with spectacular variations of color, texture and shadow. This painstaking process can take three or four months to complete one piece.
