Collection: Celestino Piatti

I am sure the most of you have heard about Celestino Piatti or have seen his work on other websites. He was (1922-2007) a renonwned Swiss graphic artist, painter and popular of his children's books illustrations, blogged here. Piatti became the designer for Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag (DTV) designing a total of over 6,300 titles from 1961 until the mid 1990s.

I was thrilled to find several more of his owl illustrations on this blog. The owl is a motif that runs through his entire work. As a messenger of good luck or misfortune, or as a symbol of wisdom. In 1992 Piatti told a magazine: "You can draw an owl a thousand times, and never find out its secret".

I have complied this post with his beautiful artworks. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Take care and have a great weekend!

His work is very recognizable. I love that you put them together. They look great. I didn't know he felt that way about owls. That's wonderful. Sounds like he was a kindred spirit, Shivani.
