Ella Clawley: Paperdermy

Ella Clawley is an Australian based freelance illustrator and a paper artist. She graduated from National Art School with a major in painting. While developing her skills in fine art she began working more and more with paper. "At one point she decided to put down the brush, and start working entirely with it, and hasn't looked back since."

Paperdermy is a term coined by Ella for her paper adaptations of taxidermy animals. She creates amazing sculptures of owl, penguin, peacock, condor etc. using watercolor paper and box board for the skeleton. Then she hand cuts and assembles each feather to finish. It takes anywhere from 3 days to a week to make each sculpture. You can view more of her paper work here, there are a few sculptures that are can be purchased from her online store.

Wow. She's amazing. I love her shop. You know I love paper art, so it's a real treat to be introduced to her. Thanks, Shivani!
