Mixed Media by Lisa Congdon

New mixed media works by San Francisco based artist and illustrator Lisa Congdon. Her paintings are a beautiful fusion of pencil sketches, vintage and found paper, and fake fur. The bright color palette and use of geometric shapes in these paintings is what caught my eye in the very first place.

Imm Living: Totem Cups and Bowls

Totem cups and bowls designed by Rob Southcott from Imm Living. These functional sets while not in use can be stacked together to form a totem pole. "A totem is an object, usually an animal, which serves as an emblem for a family or clan and embodies a sacred relationship between nature and humanity."

Each cup features a "carved face", may be of birds with spread out wings and beaks, and I definitely see an owl on the top in the silver stack. Do you? I would love to buy my own totem, but making a choice between a clean white or metallic gold and silver finish won't be easy. Which is your favorite?

These will sure make a great conversational piece and an awesome gift! There is a recent addition are totem sugar, salt and pepper stacking set. Entire collection available from here.

Two Hoots Wine Label

I am loving the owl illustrations on the wine packaging and labels designed by Maegan Brown for a Canadian Winery Two Hoots (update: thanks Meagan for the update. Too bad, the wine doesn't exist.). The wine bottles feature five eye-catching illustrations of owls that are sure to please a young audience and anyone who is a fan of cool package design.

But that's not all, "Each owl character has been designed to match the characteristics of the wine, which nicely ties into the tongue in cheek descriptions on the back of each varietal. Back label of Cabernet Rose: 'Like the screeching owl, this cabernet rose has a rather flirtatious character. Fresh peach and pear aromas combine with cheeky cherry flavours to add sweetness to the playful, fruity wine.' Back label of Cabernet Merlot: 'Robust and vigorous like the spotted owl, this cabernet merlot has a rich plum character. Oak and blackcurrant aromas combine with dark cherry flavours to add luxury to this hearty wine."

Elli Popp + Edwyn Collins

Elli Popp collaborated with Indie musician legend and artist Edwyn Collins to create a gorgeous line of ceramics - "Some British Birds". Edywn illustrated these birds on a daily basis after suffering cerebral haemorrhage in 2005. These delicate drawings of the birds demonstrate Edwyn's skills as an illustrator who made use of his left hand only.

The range of mugs and plates comes in six lovely bird designs including barn owl, tawny owl, nightangle and more. View all the products on Elli's online store.

Santoro Graphics: Popnrock

Santoro "Popnrock" cards are a great example of paper mechanics and genius. Every card comes pre-assembled with a space to write your message and easily pops open from the packaging. "With a gentle nudge the cards rock from side to side and they all feature a number of small moving parts which sway in harmony with the motion." This innovative pop-up, 3D series of cards won gift of the year in the best Card & Wrap category. The cards shown above are designs - Teacups in Forest and Owls, to view the rest of the beautiful cards go to their website.

The video below shows the card in action.

Owl Shoes by Jason Wu & Melissa

I am not a fan of plastic shoes but these owl shoes look fabulous! Jason Wu has worked in collaboration with Melissa, the Brazilian footwear label for Spring 2012 collection that features two styles - flats and peep-toe slingbacks. The classic Melissa design has been customized by Wu by adding a Miss Wu owl logo and bow on the Ultragirl ballet flats.

The shoes will be available in four colors - nude, black, gray, and burgundy.
