She creates these stunning cut paper sculptures full of colors and characters which takes you on a magical and enchanted journey to the fairy-tale world. The detailing in her fall inspired owl pieces is incredible. Her favorite subject matter of work is mermaid with flowy hair, so I am sharing some of the images of her mermaid artwork that she created based on "The Little Mermaid".

DIY: Owl Themed Wedding

Justin-and-Caitlin-wedding2

Justin-and-Caitlin-wedding3

Today's post features the best-of-the-best in DIY owl themed wedding ideas. Justin and Caitlin’s DIY owl themed wedding was photographed by a very talented Jennifer Jasso who is a also a friend of the couple. Caitlin, the bride, who is textile artist did all the styling herself for her big day including the owl dolls, invitations, photo props and even the owl cake topper.

The wedding post is not complete without the bride's dress and her accessories so I added a picture of her gorgeous dress to drool over and her rhinestone owl hair clip which is beautiful and goes perfectly well with the color scheme.

Notice the colorful and fun owls print fabric used for decoration in the wedding area, the pinecone owls hung amongst the flowers and feathers on the garden arch.

DIY: Wings

This is the most gorgeous DIY project of wings I have ever seen. Eri of Llevo el invierno has shared a DIY tutorial with pattern instructions on her site for these amazing wings for kids, both in English and Spanish. The pattern measurements are for children 18 to 36 months.

Simply by modifying the fabric colors you can make the wings suitable for Halloween, birthday party or a costume party. If you are not an expert in sewing, no worries, because you can also cut and paste all the pieces of fabric together. Really, no sewing required!

You can give these wings to this owl costume or this. Enjoy!

Amy Alice is an Ottawa based mixed media artist who makes collages using photographs from vintage catalogues, encyclopedia and other ephemera. I especially love the "Owl Girls" series featuring fairy-tale children with birds' heads.

"Her collages simultaneously evoke a familiar world- a bucolic realm of birds, insects, moonlight and natural phenomena-and invest it with a perplexing symbolic potential. In the strange inter-zone of these images, the moon flips upside-down, birds have the bodies of girl-children, starlight comes down to earth, and the fragile innocence of childhood haunts the night sky."
