Today, I am drawn to these quirky and whimsical illustrations by Terry Fan. I love them all, but I am especially awed by immense imagination in The Topiary Menagerie showing giant animal shaped topiaries being trimmed by the gardener.

Sootcookie: Picnic Set

Sootcookie was started in 2009 by Tanya Laing, a graduate of the Michaelis School of Fine Art. The name "sootcookie" is derived from the Afrikaans word meaning “sweet biscuit.” The sootcookie's quirky range of ceramics include both unique ceramic sculptures like boxing gloves, paper airplanes and high top sneakers in gold detail and floral pattern, and functional pieces.

Their owl picnic set (aka Magies vol oogies toe)  includes ceramic paper plates, cups and "take away" tray. I think these are pretty cool!

Joshua Yeldham is a mixed media artist born and living in Sydney, Australia. He finished Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design, USA. His work has lot of detail and drawn with a deep spiritual connection with his surroundings. The owls is a symbol of both good and evil in his work.

"The owl is a recurring image in Yeldham’s work, so much so that it has come to almost act as a metaphor for the artist, or even perhaps the ghost that haunts him. Known in mythology for their wisdom and ability to be both virtuous and predatory, owls play a distinct and multifaceted role in Yeldham’s unique visual language."

He has done several solo exhibitions and has won many awards for his work including the Wynne, Mosman and Sulman art prizes.

Her owl ceramics show intricate designs and patterns in beautiful vibrant colors. I adore the fun and amazing animal characters in her artwork playing music instruments and riding on their cycles.

Owl Lamp at Maison Moschino

Maison Moschino Hotel in Milan, Italy features rooms named like "Little Red Riding Hood", "Sleeping in a Ballgown", "Alice's Room" and "Life is a Bed of Roses". Each luxury room features whimsical and surreal elements like cupcake shaped pillows, bed of roses, Cindrella gown as a bed board and candy chandelier. But, my favorite is "The Forest" (not that I have been there) the very idea of a room decorated with bed shaped as trees and an owl bedside lamp which takes my breathaway. The owl lamp with those intricate feathers detail has to be the reason people like to sleep in "The Forest", at least I would. Too bad, it's not for sale.
