Meet Brian Ignacio And His Owls

Who is Brian Ignacio?
In his own words: "My name is Brian Ignacio, and I'm a 20 year old college student in San Francisco. I am obsessed with owls, Japanese monsters, eye patches and graphic novels.

I love art that is playful and accessible. My belief is that people should not be intimidated or discouraged in making their own stories and assertions about an art piece; each experience with an artwork should be regarded as an isolated incident that will always be different.

Part of what makes art so amazing and inspiring is the amount of imagination that is involved, whether it be in the form of creating art, or the act of appreciating and interpreting art.

I sincerely hope that my art is able to have those aspects evident in them, and that it at least inspires you to create for yourself! "

Now, meet his wonderful owls. Brian Ignacio loves owls too, like us. He emailed me about his limited-edition hand-painted owls on wood blocks. Each owl is unique and comes with a 4x6 watercolor painting. The edition run is limited to only 35 and are going fast! To read more on the process and the paintings go to his blog.

Brian has numbered and named 9 of his pre-made owls for reference and to give a general idea about his work. You can contact him at Brian1gnacio@yahoo.com for custom owls with your color scheme, eye shape, wing position and position of the block. He is planning on opening a store on Etsy soon, for updates follow his blog.

Good Morning, friends! I am so excited to finally reveal the secret "Owl Lover 2011 Calendar" in today's post. This calendar is a collaborative project of 30 of our favorite artists and My Owl Barn. For each month, you can choose from 30 beautiful owl-themed artworks! Yes, you read that right. You can pick and choose the images you love the most from our gallery and create your own calendar. All this is for free. If you are not big on customization, you can simply download the pre-made one; but I bet you are one of those owl-make-my-own kind :)

Owl Themed Birthday Party - II

Thank you Ashlee for sharing your daughter's second birthday party photographs with us. Ashlee was inspired by the dress she found at a kid's store. It amazes me the how we find inspiration all around us and what we do with it. Has something inspired you lately?

Vintage Style Holiday Decor

Danielle of the Thompson Family Life has done a great job of using her white fireplace as a backdrop and decorating it with colorful 60s hair salon ads from her favorite antique store and vintage masks collected from eBay, Etsy and Amazon to create kid-friendly display for the season. I love the Martha Stewart's vintage style owl that she bought at Michaels.

Hannah Waldron

Hannah Waldron's finger puppets were originally a surprise inside her successful book Today I am a Polar Bear (Have you seen the book?.) The illustrations on the puppets are printed on Hannah's vintage fabric collection that she found on her various travels. The puppets double as badges too like shown above. Awesome!!

I also found these screen printed collection of owl cards, available online here.
