Paper Wonderland: Michelle Romo

I adore Michelle Romo's fun, quirky designs, and had featured her bags from Crowded Teeth here. So when I found out about her new book - Paper Wonderland, I had to buy it for myself! The book is completely illustrated by Michelle's lovely patterns and"32 terribly cute toys ready to cut, fold & build" templates on various themes like jungle, ocean, city, people, owls and more. If you like working with paper then you will certainly love this book. I have picked out few of my favorite pages from the book to share here. More of the book's content can be viewed here at amazon.

Su Blackwell: Paper Sculptures

Amazing book cut sculptures by Su Blackwell, a London based art director. She creates stunning sculptures cut out of ordinary books where fairytale creatures, butterflies and birds are bring to life. You may not able to read them, but these pieces will leave you in awe at every glimpse.

"I often work within the realm of fairy-tales and folk-lore. I began making a series of book-sculpture, cutting-out images from old books to create three-dimensional diorama’s, and displaying them inside wooden boxes."

Her work left be amazed and curious to know how she create these delicate and intricate artwork out of old books. So, I searched some more and found this video showing her in action. Enjoy!

The Cart Before The Horse: Dylan and Jo

Dylan and Jo Of The Cart Before The Horse are the creators of these stunning out of this world dolls. Their one-of-a-kind pieces are inspired by contemporary folk art and entirely hand painted.

"All the dolls are made of quilter's muslin that has been painted and sanded, then painted and sanded again, giving the fabric a rich patina that feels like old leather."

They have been featured in number of crafts' magazines and were recently on the front page of Etsy, inspiring many of us. Visit their blog for current updates and generous giveaways!

Marolsha

Maddy of Marolsha is a jewelry designer who creates vintage inspired jewelry out of her home studio that she shares with her husband. She started creating jewelry out of her own love for jewelry and want of wearing something different from what the stores sell.

I'm smitten with this antiqued three dimensional owl pendant with lovely details on both back and front.

Pick-Me-Up

A hearty dose of brightness on a Monday morning.

Isn't that owl vase just stunning!

Thanks Joy!

United Thread

The artist of United Thread is a painter and art history major based out of Salem, Massachusetts. She is a private gardener and a freelance illustrator who finds her inspiration in nature and patterns. She especially enjoys working with birds "because of the endless possibilities [she] can come up with for their coats!"

I adore these watercolor paintings that include lines and patterns to emphasize the texture of her birds and other art subject. I have my eyes set on first owl and the fourth print of animals gathered around the water hole.
