Masked Owl Costume: Martha Stewart

I believe it's safe to say that Martha Stewart loves owls too. Lately, I have discovered many wonderful owl crafts and costume ideas by her and have been sharing with you here. This masked owl costume is by far my favorite. It is a perfect fusion of an aviator and owl costume. Don't you love the goggles and pilot cap with that feathery belly?

I made this costume for my little one last year, but in white and gray. It was very cute!!

I TOTALLY MADE THIS FOR MYSELF LAST YEAR LOL
I scaled up the wings and cut them from felt... bought a dancers bodysuit and sewed on the ruffled "feathers" but I made the mask with real feathers and felt :)

I saw this one last year and wanted to make it for my daughter, but it was too complicated for me.

I came across this one this year and it's much more doable. http://phubie.blogspot.com/2010/10/girly-owl-costume-tutorial.html

I love Martha's ideas, but the sewing machine and I are not on speaking terms. :-)

I don´t like her photos. The babies shouldn´t treat like objects or somethin...

@ Großstadtheidi I am sorry to hear that you feel that way. I don't see it that way.

my daughter found this a couple of weeks ago, it may be cute but i do sew and this costume doesnt work, if you cant find hat what do you do? plus glueing makes a mess, so i had to change to much of this picture, ends were messy, interfacing showed because once you creased right face it didnt match back, you should have mentioned that, i dont like glueing to baby t-shirt, so i ended up sewing feathers on, template was impossible, 375 might fit 6 month old but not 18 month old, you needed better directions, i will never do this again, and if you have trouble reading this info on directions please look somewhere else for owl pattern

I am sorry to hear that the costume didn't turn out the way you expected but if you read the other comments you would see some of them found the tutorial helpful and actually made the costume. I haven't tried the tutorial myself and believe you if it could be more clear.
