Ragtales

This wall hanging calendar by Danielle Hanson of Ragtales is a great idea to add a little color to blank, dull and white kitchen walls (like mine are right now). I look at it as a functional art piece. Honestly, I struggle a lot when it comes to decorating my kitchen. How did you add color to your kitchen walls? Ideas?

What a pretty calendar! I used red elements to brighten up my kitchen. My dining room and kitchen are connected and separated by only a counter, so I started the red in the dining room with some red chair covers (to keep my cat from scratching my nice dining room chairs!) and then in the kitchen I have a red tea pot that sits on one counter and a red curtain that hangs over the window. I have a few red hand towels that hang on my stove and some red pot holders that sit in a basket on a red and white checkered mat on the counter. I have some photographs hanging on the wall near the stove that I took in Barcelona at an open air food market that I put in red frames. Things like that. I live in a rowhome so when you come in through the front door you can see all the way into the back of the house and I love that beyond the living room, there's basically a little trail of red that leads your eye all the way to the back wall.

I have SO much in my kitchen, it can be obnoxious if the counters aren't clean.
but visit for my color ideas :) (paint, aprons, unconventional wallpaper)

I love the calendar!

I've never had a plain white kitchen, so I cant offer much advice, but I'm a HUGE fan of lots and lots of pictures on the walls.

Had I a white kitchen, I'd probably get several smaller frames from rummage sales and thrift stores, paint them, fill them with bright pictures, then arrange them in clusters. :)

Love your blog - and I love this all-things-owl illustrated calendar which would look rather lovely in my rather boring kitchen!
